The OraQuick HIV Self-Test is a single-use, qualitative immunoassay to detect antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) and Type 2 (HIV-2) in Oral Fluid specimens for individual self-testing. OraQuick is an Oral swab-based HIV Self-Test that does not require blood. It works by detecting your bodys natural defenders (antibodies) that help to fight infection and it intended for use privately and confidentially. Sensitivity: 100% Specificity: 99.8% Specimen type: Oral fluid Time to result: 20 minutes CONTENTS A pouch with a test kit, test stand and instructions. The test kit contains two smaller pouches with a tube and the testing device. Tear open the pouch containing the tube and remove it. Remove the cap and slide the tube onto the stand. Tear open the pouch with the device and remove. DO NOT touch the flat pad with your fingers. Press the pad firmly against the gum and swab it along the upper gum once and the lower gum once. Put the flat pad all the way into the tube until it touches the bottom. Leave it there for 20 minutes before reading the result. Do not read the result after 40 minutes If there are 2 lines - one next to C and one next to T, the result is positive. If there is one line next to C and no line next to T, the result is negative. If the result is positive, please go to the closest health facility for confirmatory testing.
